Preparing your stream desk
Guide

Build a repeatable YouTube Live workflow

Treat the platform setup and the encoder run as two connected tasks. Your IAmAStreamer workspace organizes the run; YouTube controls eligibility, events, preview, and publication.

Prepare the platform side first

Open the live tools in the YouTube account you intend to use. Confirm that live streaming is enabled and prepare the event or stream configuration there. Use the publishing details provided for that stream; do not assume that saving a destination in IAmAStreamer creates a YouTube event.

Save the destination privately

Open Destinations, choose the provider, and save a recognizable name with the issued RTMP or RTMPS URL and stream key. Do not put stream keys in names, descriptions, screenshots, or support notes. If a credential changes or expires, update the saved destination before the next run. Keep the server URL and key in their intended fields.

Prepare a prerecorded broadcast

Upload one video, check a recent server heartbeat and detected FFmpeg availability, then choose Prerecorded Broadcast in Live streams. Select the video, server, and saved destination. Review encoding settings and the transfer estimate before saving.

Start and inspect both sides

Start the saved broadcast manually. Review the agent’s process reports in the workspace and the incoming preview in YouTube. Confirm picture, sound, and event visibility using the platform’s own controls. A running FFmpeg process is not a synchronized YouTube Live status. The application does not provide OAuth, event creation, audience analytics, or delivery confirmation.

Leave a repeatable checklist

Note which video and profile worked, which destination you used, and any platform steps needed before publication. Stop the test and verify that the output has stopped. You may save a planned time in Schedule, but automatic start and stop are not implemented.
